  4. there is no real rules for mics and peaking and stuff it’s about getting the right sound and using your tools properly to edting and mix ur tracks together you don’t need to get the hottest signal.

  5. this dude is way smarter than that other drunk expert village guy. and regards to mcturk17, mics are important, but mixing is made easier by great recording. it’s a big mistake to say, “oh we’ll just fix that in the mixing stage.” you are better off shifting the mic placement and trying to get a better take than spending hours, gating, EQing and effecting your track to make it sound halfway decent. it’s more about the recording than the mixing, unless you have no talent.
